UMCBPC: The Checklist Procedure
United Metrolite Central (UMC)
Checklist: Battery Reporting
and Evidence
Status: Draft Document Type: Safety & Evidence Procedure Authority: United Metrolite Central (UMC)
1. Purpose
The UMC Checklist: Battery Reporting and
Evidence outlines a standardized methodology for collecting, verifying, and
documenting battery health information. The objectives of this checklist are
to:
·
Proactively identify battery degradation or irregularities
·
Mitigate battery-related safety risks
·
Support evidence-led escalation of service actions
·
Ensure alignment between user-provided reports and service-center
diagnostics
2. Scope
This
protocol is applicable to:
·
Portable computers and laptops subject to UMC oversight
·
Batteries evaluated using manufacturer-sanctioned diagnostic tools
·
Cases involving warranty, safety concerns, or escalation to
service centers
It
is important to note that this checklist does not supersede the manufacturer’s User Manual or Hardware
Maintenance Manual (HMM).
3. Monitoring Policy
UMC
mandates continuous battery monitoring (24/7) via manufacturer-endorsed
software solutions.
Primary
monitoring tool:
·
Lenovo Vantage battery details
Supplementary
diagnostic applications are required for validation and robust evidence
capture.
4. Mandatory Reporting Tools
The
following instruments are required
for battery reporting under UMC protocols:
·
Battery Meter
·
Lenovo Vantage
·
NLBA1 Battery Analyzer
Submissions
lacking cross-verification from these tools are deemed incomplete.
5. Preparation
Prior
to collecting evidence:
·
Confirm system stability and operation
·
Close unnecessary programs
·
Verify the accuracy of system date and time
·
Refrain from altering power settings during data acquisition
For
internal inspections:
·
Fully shut down the device
·
Disconnect the battery connector pinout
6. Battery Data Collection
Record
the following parameters:
·
Design capacity (Wh)
·
Full charge capacity (Wh)
·
Remaining capacity (Wh and %)
·
Cycle count
·
Battery voltage (V)
·
Battery temperature (℃)
·
Charging status (Charging / Not charging / Idle)
Each
parameter must include the diagnostic tool name and a timestamp.
7. Evidence
Cross-Verification
Compare
recorded values among:
·
Battery Meter
·
Lenovo Vantage
·
NLBA1 Analyzer
Document
any discrepancies promptly.
Maintain
screenshots and logs from all diagnostic tools, regardless of whether values
correspond. Any inconsistencies must be clearly identified and flagged.
8. Verification Criteria
Review
battery metrics against the following standards:
·
Capacity Integrity: Full charge capacity should
conform to design specifications
·
Cycle Count vs Wear: Degradation should reflect
typical aging patterns
·
Voltage Stability: No abnormal fluctuations
should be present
·
Thermal Safety: Temperature must remain
within operational limits
Abnormal
results necessitate immediate escalation.
9. Anomaly Classification
UMC
delineates battery findings as follows:
·
Informational: Ongoing monitoring required;
no action necessary
·
Warning: Deviations detected; trend
observation warranted
·
Critical: Safety or reliability risk
confirmed
All
classifications must be explicitly documented.
10. Evidence Packaging
Reports
must be accompanied by:
·
Screenshots from Battery Meter
·
Screenshots from Lenovo Vantage
·
NLBA1 Analyzer logs
Include
all relevant dates, such as battery manufacture and first-use (if available).
Evidence
should be distinctly labeled, preserved in original quality, and traceable to
the specific device.
11. Service Escalation
For
batteries classified as Warning or Critical:
·
Initiate a service ticket via Lenovo
Support and submit comprehensive supporting documentation
·
If instructed, visit an authorized Lenovo service center with the
full evidence package
Battery
handling or replacement must not occur without proper service authorization as
per UMC guidelines.
12. Safety Statement
Batteries
identified as defective or irregular may pose significant safety hazards if
mishandled. UMC requires thorough evidence collection and timely escalation to
prevent personal injury or property damage.
13. Compliance
Non-compliance
with this checklist may result in:
·
Unsuccessful service requests
·
Diagnostic delays
·
Elevated safety risks
Adherence
to this checklist is mandatory for all battery reports managed by UMC.
